The official draw for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) has been completed, finalizing the groups for next year’s tournament. The event, to be hosted by Morocco, promises a high level of competition across four balanced groups.

The draw, conducted on Thursday, placed the continent’s top 16 nations into the following groups:

Group A features host nation Morocco, alongside North African rivals Algeria, Senegal, and Kenya. This group guarantees intense regional battles from the first match.

In Group B, South Africa will face Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and Tanzania. The group consist of a mix of strong West and East African sides.

Group C sees record champions Nigeria drawn against Zambia, Egypt, and Malawi. It is a group that combines experienced contenders with teams known for their passionate play.

Finally, Group D includes Ghana, Cameroon, Mali, and Cape Verde. This group is viewed as highly competitive, with several teams capable of advancing to the next stage of the tournament.

The matches will be played across four stadiums in Morocco, the Moulay Al Hassan Stadium and Al Madina Stadium in Rabat, the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, and the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Fès.

The tournament will not only crown a continental champion but will also qualify teams for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. All eyes will now turn to Morocco for what is expected to be growth in women’s football across Africa.
