The Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) has acknowledged the response received from the Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
CAF has confirmed that the time limit for filing an appeal will only begin once FECAFOOT receives the full written reasons for the decision taken against its President, Mr. Samuel Eto’o Fils.
FECAFOOT states that this procedural clarification is welcome. However, the Federation expresses its surprise at the notable difference in timing. The sanction against President Eto’o was pronounced in less than two hours after a hearing, yet the communication of the detailed reasons for this decision—which impacts the reputation and honor of the Federation’s President is facing prolonged and unclear delays.
According to FECAFOOT, this is not an isolated incident. The Federation recalls that during a previous disciplinary case, it took over nine months to successively obtain the reasons, the full decision, and then the setting of a hearing date.
FECAFOOT reaffirms its commitment to fair process, respect for reasonable timeframes, and the effectiveness of appeal mechanisms. The Federation states it will remain vigilant in upholding these fundamental guarantees, the honor of its members, and, more broadly, the credibility of sports governance in Africa and the world.
