“I’m never going to do it anymore” – Semenyo ditches one celebration

Manchester City forward, Antoine Semenyo has revealed he has decided to stop performing the backflip celebration after receiving a stern warning from his mother.

The Ghanaian attacker, known for his acrobatic celebrations sometimes, did the backflip after scoring in City’s 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, the celebration did not go as smoothly as expected, prompting concern back home.

Speaking to CBS Sports, Semenyo admitted that his mother’s reaction was enough to make him rethink the risky move.

“The first thing I got was a message from my mom saying, ‘Why are you still doing the backflip?’

She was happy I scored, don’t get me wrong, but she definitely gave me a bit of a telling-off for the flip! She’s like, ‘Just keep your feet on the ground, please!’ So I’m never going to do it anymore,” he said.

Semenyo has been in scintillating form since joining Manchester City during the winter transfer window. The Ghana international has already scored four goals in five appearances, quickly endearing himself to the City faithful with his pace, power and eye for goal.

While fans may miss the backflip, City supporters will gladly settle for more goals—with both feet firmly on the ground.
