The leadership of the Ghana Badminton Association (GBA) visited the national men’s badminton team in a show of solidarity and support. The team is currently training at the Borteyman Sports Complex ahead of the 2026 All-Africa Senior Badminton Championship in Botswana from February 9 to 15.
The visiting delegation was led by GBA President, Mr. Evans Yeboah. He was joined by Executive Committee members Mrs. Evelyn Nsiah Asare and Miss Sefacor Sembia. The officials interacted with the players and the technical team, presenting them with water, drinks, fruits, and snacks.
During the visit, President Yeboah spoke to the team about the purpose of their presence. “We are here this morning as a board to check on your welfare and also to encourage and motivate you as you prepare for the journey ahead,” he said. “It is important for us to be close to you and to let you know that we are fully behind you in the days leading to the championship.”
Mrs. Evelyn Nsiah Asare echoed this message of support. She stated that the Association has the team’s best interests at heart. “We felt it was important to come closer, see how you are faring, and understand your needs,” she said. “This is just a small token to show our belief in your abilities, and we are confident you will deliver when you represent Ghana.”
On behalf of the players, Team Captain Ahmad Samad Abdul thanked the executives. “We are grateful to the President, Mrs. Asare, and our hardworking Treasurer for taking time to visit us,” he said. “We are making good progress under our coach, and the players are responding well. We are confident that we will give our best when we get to Botswana.”
The team is under the guidance of Head Coach Ocansey Ahumah, with Mr. Francis Yeboah serving as the Team Manager. The players currently in camp are Adogley Samuel Kwaku, Obeng-Shang Francis, Korampong Kwame Ebenezer, Reuben Teye Tetteh, and Captain Ahmad Samad Abdul.
The visit served to boost the team’s morale as they enter the final phase of preparations for the African championship.
