The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, has made a personal appeal for the nation to rally behind the newly established Ghana Sports Fund.
Speaking on the Floor of Parliament, the Minister described the Fund as a structured and transparent way to properly finance sports and recreation across the country. He explained that it is designed to support key areas such as infrastructure development, school and grassroots sports, elite athlete preparation, welfare systems, and recreation.

As a sign of his personal commitment to the cause, Hon. Iddie Adams announced that he will donate two months of his salary to the Fund, starting in February 2026.
His announcement was met with immediate support from his colleagues. The front bench of the Majority Caucus in Parliament has donated their March salaries to the Ghana Sports Fund. Several other Members of Parliament also made personal contributions during the session.

The Minister stressed that sports development is a shared responsibility. He called on government agencies, corporate bodies, the media, sports federations, communities, and individual citizens to contribute.
In a show of corporate support, the Minister also revealed that the National Investment Bank (NIB) has made a donation of 100,000 Ghana Cedis to the Fund.
The Ghana Sports Fund is now officially in place. The Minister emphasized that it has been structured with a framework to ensure transparency and accountability in how funds are used.
“The door is open. The time is now,” he urged.
