The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) has assured fans that they are in for a classic night of boxing when the 2026 National Individual Amateur Boxing Championship holds its finals.

The event is scheduled for Friday, 27th February 2026, at the Bukom Boxing Arena. Dauda Fuseni, President of the GBF, gave the assurance, stating that the finals will be a major test for the national teams, the Black Bombers and Black Rockets, as they prepare for future international assignments.

According to Mr. Fuseni, amateur boxing in Ghana is gaining attention. He revealed that several companies and international agencies have shown interest in supporting the sport.

He took the opportunity to thank the current sponsors who have backed the championship.

He hopes that more companies will come forward to help reward the boxers, stating that all the finalists have earned the right to be rewarded handsomely for their efforts.

The stage is now set for a thrilling conclusion to the competition. The championship began with 145 boxers from across the country. After weeks of competition, only 26 remain to contest the gold and silver medals in their respective weight classes.

Among the popular young boxers who have qualified for the finals are Mathias Ashitey, Caleb Mensah, George Dowuona, Ebenezer Ankrah, Amadu Mohammed, Mubarak Amarh, Abdul Wahid Omar, Ibrahim Doku, Samuel Plange, Solomon Sackey, Zakaria Kamoko, Desmond Pappoe, and Daniel Plange.

The boxers and their coaches have all expressed their determination to deliver exciting performances.

The final event is expected to be a high-profile gathering. Dignitaries slated to attend include the Minister of Sports and Recreation, the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, the Director General of the National Sports Authority, as well as foreign ambassadors and other special guests.
