Ronaldo Acquires 25% Stake in UD Almería
Cristiano Ronaldo has taken a significant step into football ownership after acquiring a 25% stake in Spanish Segunda Division side UD Almería.
The Al Nassr forward, 41, confirmed the move as part of his long-term vision to remain deeply involved in the sport beyond his playing career.
“It has been a longtime ambition of mine to contribute to football, beyond the pitch,” Ronaldo said.
“UD Almeria is a Spanish club with strong foundations and clear potential for growth. I look forward to working alongside the leadership team to support the club’s next phase of growth.”
Almería, who currently compete in Spain’s Segunda División, have been under Saudi ownership since 2019. The club is led by president Mohamed Al-Khereiji, and Ronaldo’s investment is seen as a strategic addition to an ownership structure already connected to Saudi football interests.
While financial details of the deal have not been disclosed, the acquisition marks Ronaldo’s first direct ownership stake in a professional football club. It also strengthens his ties to Spanish football, where he previously enjoyed a trophy-laden spell and built a lasting legacy with Real Madrid.
The move reflects a broader ambition from the five-time Ballon d’Or winner to transition into football leadership and investment, positioning himself for an influential role in the sport long after he hangs up his boots.
