German-born forward Ilyas Ansah has confirmed he will not be representing Ghana at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stating that his focus remains on his international future with Germany.

The 21-year-old, who is of Ghanaian descent, has been on the radar of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as a potential recruit for the Black Stars ahead of the World Cup. Despite the interest from the West African Country, Ansah has made it clear that a decision on his senior international career is still some time away.

Speaking to Tribuna.com, the young attacker explained that his immediate priority is the upcoming U21 European Championship with Germany.

“After the U21 European Championship, I will look into next year and make a decision,” Ansah said. “As things stand, I won’t be going to the World Cup with Ghana.”

The forward, who has represented Germany at various youth levels, is currently focusing on his development at club level. He plays for Union Berlin in the German Bundesliga, where he has impressed this season with five goals and two assists in 26 appearances.

While Ansah has not closed the door on representing Ghana entirely, his latest comments suggest that a switch of allegiance is not imminent. For now, his focus remains firmly on his progress in German football.
