Slot Admits Liverpool “Pressure” As  Brighton Inflict Painful Defeat to Stall Champions League Ambitions

Arne Slot has admitted that the weight of expectation at Liverpool FC is unavoidable following a frustrating 2–1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.

The Reds were undone by a brace from Danny Welbeck, who struck on either side of an equaliser from Milos Kerkez to secure a memorable victory for the Seagulls.

The result marks back-to-back home wins over Liverpool for Brighton for the first time in the Premier League.

Speaking after the match, Slot acknowledged the intense scrutiny that comes with managing a club of Liverpool’s stature.

“There is always pressure at Liverpool—on me and on the players. That is completely normal,” he said.

Despite the setback, Slot pointed to progress in cup competitions, with Liverpool already through to the quarter-finals of both the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.

However, he stressed the importance of improving league form to secure a return to Europe’s elite competition next season.

“We have qualified for the quarter-finals of the FA Cup and the Champions League, but in the league we need to make sure that, in the end, we qualify for the Champions League,” he added.

Liverpool currently sit fifth in the table, locked in a fierce battle for top-four qualification alongside rivals such as Manchester United, Aston Villa, and Chelsea.
