Accra Hearts of Oak have officially refuted what they describe as spurious and defamatory allegations circulating online concerning their goalkeeper, Benjamin Asare, who is currently on international duty with the the Black Stars.

In a statement released on Saturday, the club moved swiftly to address the misinformation, emphasizing that the reports are entirely without merit. The management confirmed that it has engaged directly with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and both bodies have jointly established that the claims are baseless.

“We wish to categorically state that these reports are entirely false, misleading, and defamatory,” the statement read. “The Club has engaged directly with the Ghana Football Association, and both parties confirm that there is absolutely no truth to these claims.”

As part of their response, Hearts of Oak have formally reported the perpetrators behind the alleged misinformation including the identified content creator to law enforcement and regulatory authorities for thorough investigation and necessary action.

The club also moved to reassure its supporters and the broader public, urging calm amid the false reports. “Benjamin Asare is in excellent condition, fully focused, and not in any way affected by these baseless claims,” the statement added.

Asare was an unused substitute during Ghana’s recent international friendly against Austria, a match that ended in a 5–1 defeat for the Black Stars in Vienna. Despite not featuring on the pitch, the goalkeeper remains an integral part of the national team setup and continues to command the full support of his club.
