Bruno Fernandes Praises Harry Kane, Claims he is a PL Legend
Manchester United captain, Bruno Fernandes, has thrown his support behind Harry Kane, insisting the England captain would have cemented himself as one of the greatest players in Premier League history had he remained at Tottenham Hotspur for a few more seasons.
The Portuguese midfielder argued that Kane’s individual brilliance was never in doubt, even during his trophyless spell in North London.
“If he had stayed at Tottenham another one or two seasons, he’d have been the best goalscorer ever in the Premier League,” So, would he have been a legend or not? He would.”
Kane left Spurs in 2023 to join Bayern Munich, a move widely seen as a decisive step toward securing the major silverware that had eluded him in England.
His goal-scoring consistency has remained unchanged in Germany. Kane has won the Bundesliga top scorer award every season since arriving in Germany and with 31 goals, he is currently on course to claiming it three times in succession.
Fernandes believes the switch to Germany has elevated how the striker is perceived globally and can potentially win the most prestigious individual award in football.
“He decided to go to Bayern and the decision is good because he knows he has a big chance of winning trophies. Now we’re talking about Harry Kane scoring the same amount of goals he was scoring at Tottenham, but he might win a Ballon d’Or now because he’s going to win trophies.”
Kane’s time at Tottenham saw him become the club’s all-time leading scorer and one of the most prolific forwards the Premier League has ever seen.
During his time in England, the 32-year-old striker scored 213 goals in the Premier League, placing him second on the all-time top scoring players in the league. He was 47 goals shy of equalling and possibly overtaking Alan Shearer’s 260.
However, the lack of team honours at Spurs often overshadowed his individual achievements, sparking debate over his legacy compared to other elite strikers.
At Bayern, the narrative has shifted. Competing for domestic titles and the UEFA Champions League, Kane is now positioned not just as a consistent scorer, but as a player capable of leading a dominant side to major success.

Fernandes’ comments underline a broader truth in modern football that greatness is often measured not only by goals, but by trophies. And for Kane, the move to Bayern may ultimately define how history remembers him.
What is increasingly certain, however, is that Kane’s pursuit of silverware could elevate him into an entirely different bracket of footballing greatness.
