Portuguese football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has opened up on concerns surrounding the Saudi Pro League, revealing that he plans to speak publicly at the end of the season about several issues he believes are affecting the competition’s image and credibility.

Speaking about the current state of the league, the Al Nassr forward expressed disappointment over what he described as growing unrest among players, particularly regarding refereeing decisions, league management, and the overall direction of the competition.

According to Ronaldo, frequent complaints from players on social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook have created an unhealthy atmosphere that does not reflect the true spirit of football.

After the end of the season, I will speak publicly about the bad things happening in the league, because I see a lot that is not right,” Ronaldo stated. “Many players complain openly, posting on Instagram and Facebook about refereeing decisions, the league, and the overall project. This is not good at all, and it goes against the purpose of the league.”

He further stressed that some of the issues witnessed throughout the campaign are damaging the league’s reputation, particularly in Europe, where perceptions of the Saudi Pro League continue to shape its international standing.

After the end of the season, I will talk about many things that happened during the season, which I believe are not appropriate and affect the overall image of the league, especially in Europe,” he added. “There have been many protests and posts on Instagram. This is not football.”

Despite his concerns, Ronaldo maintained that he remains fully committed to enjoying the final stages of his remarkable playing career. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner acknowledged that retirement is drawing nearer but emphasized that his passion for the game remains strong.

I always try to enjoy it, because the end of my career is getting closer and that’s the reality,” he said. “The journey I’ve had has been incredible, and I’m still going. What matters most is to keep going, because I’m still enjoying it and still scoring goals. And we really want to win the Saudi league.”

Since joining Al Nassr, Ronaldo has continued to deliver outstanding numbers in front of goal. Across all competitions, he has made 143 appearances, scoring 126 goals and providing 23 assists, an extraordinary return that underlines his lasting influence at the highest level of the game.

With 149 goal contributions in 141 matches played, Ronaldo remains one of the most decisive figures in Saudi football, both on and off the pitch, as he continues to chase domestic success while also calling for greater professionalism and integrity within the league.
