The Teranga Lions of Senegal have officially unveiled its squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with head coach Pape Thiaw naming experienced players and emerging talents ahead of the World Cup.

The Teranga Lions will once again rely on the leadership and experience of captain Sadio Mané, alongside key figures such as Kalidou Koulibaly, Idrissa Gana Gueye, Édouard Mendy, Nicolas Jackson, and Ismaïla Sarr as they aim to make a strong impact on football’s biggest stage.

However, the squad announcement has also generated discussion following the omission of several notable players who have previously been part of Senegal’s setup.

Among the high-profile absentees are Malang Sarr, Boulaye Dia, Habib Diallo, Nampalys Mendy, Cheikh Sabaly, Nobel Mendy, and experienced defender Abdou Diallo.

Senegal’s squad features a balance of youth and experience, with rising talents such as Lamine Camara, Habib Diarra, Assane Diao, and Yehvann Diouf earning places in the final team selected for the tournament.

In defence, veteran centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly headlines a unit that also includes Moussa Niakhaté, Ismaïl Jakobs, Antoine Mendy, and Krépin Diatta, while the midfield will be anchored by the experienced Idrissa Gana Gueye and Pape Matar Sarr.

Up front, Senegal boast an attacking lineup led by Sadio Mané, Nicolas Jackson, Iliman Ndiaye, and Bamba Dieng as the West African side prepares for another World Cup campaign with hopes of progressing deep into the competition.
