Benjamin Asare Admits Hard Work Can Take Him Far
Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has revealed that getting far in football will depend on hard work and he is putting in every effort to stay ahead of competition.
The shot stopper is currently in Wales with the Black Stars team preparing for an international friendly against the Welsh national team.
The game will also test the team’s readiness ahead of the FIFA World Cup which will begin in two weeks time across the United States Canada and Mexico.
Speaking after their third training session at the Dragon Park in Cardiff, the Hearts of Oak goalie admitted that he’s working hard to achieve some personal objectives.
“I have this thought that I have to achieve something big for myself. That does not mean if I’m the number one for the national team then I’ve achieved what I wanted. I have to work hard because we have more goalkeepers in the team.”
Asare Calls for Unity
The 33-year-old also preached unity insisting that it is one of the values that can help the team to realize it’s goals ahead of the world and players who make the bench should support those who get the nod to start.
“If the coach starts another goalkeeper, it doesn’t mean that because I’m the number one, I should be angry. We have to stay prayerful and united for collective success.”
The former Great Olympics goalie added that he is “confident” in his abilities because he trains hard all the time to stay consistent.

Benjamin Asare has made 12 appearances for the Black Stars since making his debut in March 2025 in a World Cup qualifier against Chad, a game Ghana won 5-0, keeping a clean sheet on his first outing.
He went on to keep 5 clean sheets in 6 World Cup qualifiers for the national team, helping the country to earn its fifth world cup berth.
He is expected to remain Ghana’s number one at the mundial but with five goalkeepers in camp which will be reduced to three, the shot stopper must first make the final squad.
Asare has been instrumental in goal for Accra Hearts of Oak domestically, helping the Phobians record an astonishing 24 clean sheets in 34 games in the Ghana Premier League.
Benjamin Asare kept 13 clean sheets while Solomon Agbasi, who is also in the Black Stars camp ahead of the Wales friendly managed 10 clean sheets for Hearts
