Arne Slot’s Anfield Tenure Ends as Liverpool Confirm His Sack
Liverpool have parted ways with head coach Arne Slot, bringing an end to the Dutch manager’s two-year spell at Anfield despite his success in delivering the club’s 20th Premier League title in his debut season.
The Reds confirmed Slot’s departure in an official statement, describing the decision as a difficult one. “That this was a difficult decision for us to make as a club goes without saying,” Liverpool’s ownership said.
Slot arrived from Feyenoord in 2024 following Jurgen Klopp’s departure and immediately made history by guiding Liverpool to the league title.
He also led the club to the Carabao Cup final before losing to Newcastle United that same season.
Despite securing Champions League qualification with a fifth-place finish in the 2025-26 campaign, Liverpool opted for a change in direction.
We have collectively come to the conclusion that change is necessary in order for the club to keep moving forward,” the club stated.
Liverpool paid tribute to Slot’s contribution, adding that he “will always hold a special place in the history of this football club as the coach who delivered Liverpool’s 20th league title.”
