The GOC/CGA paid special tribute to these medal winners, singling out the men’s 4x100m relay quartet for what it described as a remarkable display of teamwork, speed, and determination against some of the world’s best sprint teams.
Beyond the podium finishers, the Committee extended its applause to the entire Team Ghana contingent, which competed across athletics, para athletics, boxing, cycling, judo, swimming, para swimming, para powerlifting, and weightlifting. From medal-winning performances to strong displays by athletes who advanced deep into their respective competitions, the statement said the team showed the Ghanaian spirit of a never-say-die attitude.
The GOC/CGA also recognised athletes who narrowly missed the podium, noting that every competitor contributed to Ghana’s proud representation in Glasgow.
The Committee expressed profound appreciation to the Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, as well as corporate partners including GCB Bank PLC and the Eezzy Group Foundation, the Ghana Sports Fund, coaches, technical officials, medical personnel, team management, the media, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, and the Ghanaian community in Scotland. Their collective support, the statement said, created the platform for Team Ghana to compete confidently and represent the nation with distinction.
With the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games drawing to a close, the GOC/CGA said the experience gained would serve as a foundation for greater achievements ahead. Attention now turns to preparing the team, alongside emerging talent, for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with an emphasis on improved preparation, targeted development, and stronger support systems.
