The Osu Duku Cycling Race will roll off this Sunday, 9th August, at 9:30am in Osu, headlining the sporting programme of the fifth edition of the Duku Festival.
Organisers have confirmed a total prize pool of GH¢27,000 across the men’s and women’s categories, underscoring the race’s growing standing on Ghana’s amateur and semi-professional cycling calendar.
Now in its fifth year, the Duku Festival has built the cycling race into one of its marquee events, drawing riders and spectators to the streets of Osu each August.
This year’s edition carries added weight for the local cycling community, with a six-place reward structure for the men’s field and a four-place structure for the women’s field designed to recognise depth of performance.
The race is being staged under the banner of the Duku Festival, and is sponsored by dot.ateliers and Backyard, with support from a wide base of partners including the Visit Ghana campaign, Bethel Logistics, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), and several municipal and local government bodies.
Their involvement reflects the event’s dual identity as both a competitive cycling fixture and a civic celebration tied to the wider Homowo festivities.
