The preparations for Blackstars  international friendlies have officially commenced, with fourteen players of the team, arriving in Austrian capital. The squad is gathering for a high-intensity training period ahead of two important fixtures against European opposition.

Among the early arrivals on Sunday was captain Jordan Ayew, who leads a contingent of players that includes a mix of experienced regulars and new faces eager to impress.

The group that touched down in Vienna comprises Daniel Agyei, Marvin Senaya, Patric Pfeiffer, Benjamin Asare, Prince Kwabena Adu, Jonas Adjetey, Derrick Kohn, Gideon Mensah, Elisha Owusu, Kwasi Sibo, Jerome Opoku, and Joseph Tetteh Anang.

The remaining members of the squad are expected to join the camp on Monday, completing the roster as Head Coach Otto Addo begins the critical process of evaluating his squad. This gathering marks a pivotal step in Addo’s journey to name his final squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, set to take place in Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

The team is scheduled to hold its first collective training session later on Monday. This initial workout will be the first of several sessions on and off the pitch, signaling the start of an intense and focused period of preparation designed to sharpen the team’s tactical and physical readiness.

Following that game against Austria in Vienna on Friday, the team will travel to Berlin to face Germany on March 31. These matches are viewed as a crucial part of the team’s build-up for the global showpiece in North America.

Ghana’s preparations will not conclude with these European fixtures. The Black Stars are also scheduled to face Mexico and Wales in May, providing further opportunities to prep the team before the World Cup kicks off in June.

Ghana has been drawn into Group L for the tournament, where they will face former champions England, Panama, and 2018 finalists Croatia. With the World Cup on the horizon, this window in Vienna represents the beginning of a concerted effort by Otto Addo and his charges to forge a squad capable of making an impact on the world stage.
