Team Ghana has bolstered its medal tally at the inaugural West Africa Zone A & B Para Games in Abeokuta, Nigeria, securing an additional eight medals across Armwrestling and Athletics on the fourth day of competition.

The Para Armwrestling contingent spearheaded the day’s success, clinching a total of five medals. The team’s standout performer was Tahiru Haruna, who achieved a commanding double gold medal victory in his category. He was supported by teammates Frank Fudzi, who earned two bronze medals, and Isaac Nii Ayitey, who added a further bronze to the haul.

On the track, Ghanaian athletes showcased their speed and determination. Addai Hayford claimed a gold medal in the fiercely contested men’s 100m T46/47 final, posting an impressive time of 11.51 seconds. In the women’s final of the same classification, Loriba Monica delivered a strong performance to secure a bronze medal with a time of 16.17 seconds.

Seasoned 3x Paralympian Botsyo Nkegbe demonstrated his enduring class by winning a silver medal in the men’s T54 100m wheelchair racing event.

These latest triumphs have elevated Ghana’s confirmed total medal count to 16, reinforcing the team’s competitive standing as the Games progress.

The spotlight now shifts to the concluding wheelchair tennis events, where Ghana is poised for further podium success. In the women’s singles, Stacy K. Mensah will contend for the gold medal against Nigeria’s Grace, while her compatriot, Bridget Nartey, will face Nigeria’s Foami in the bronze medal contest. In the men’s singles, Daniel Laryea will compete for bronze against Nigeria’s Razak. Additionally, Ghanaian teams will vie for top honors in both the women’s and men’s doubles finals.
