GFA Intensifies Training on the Updated Laws of the Game for GPL Clubs
The Ghana Football Association has intensified its efforts to improve discipline and professionalism in the Ghana Premier League through a mandatory training programme on the updated Laws of the Game.
The initiative is aimed at ensuring players and club officials enter the 2026/27 season with a clear understanding of the latest changes to the rules and their application during matches.
GFA Technical Referees Instructors are leading the sessions, providing participants with practical explanations of the amendments while addressing areas that commonly generate confusion between players, officials and referees.
Accra Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Bibiani Gold Stars, Basake Holy Stars, Karela United, Heart of Lions and Medeama are among the clubs that have completed the programme.
Young Apostles, Swedru All Blacks, Vision FC, Debibi United and FC Ashantigold 04 have also participated, with Berekum Chelsea, Bechem United, Dreams FC and Port City FC still scheduled to undergo the training.
The programme forms part of the GFA’s broader drive to raise standards of conduct within the domestic game. By engaging directly with players and club officials, the Association hopes to promote better understanding of refereeing decisions and encourage greater respect for match officials.
The sessions also complement previous integrity and safeguarding programmes organised for players and officials. Participants were required to sign an Integrity Form, reaffirming their commitment to fair play, ethical conduct and protecting the integrity of Ghanaian football.
The latest initiative therefore goes beyond explaining technical changes to the rules. It seeks to strengthen a culture of responsibility among stakeholders whose actions can influence the quality and professionalism of Premier League matches.
With the remaining clubs expected to complete the programme, the GFA is continuing its efforts to ensure participants have the knowledge required to operate within the updated Laws of the Game throughout the 2026/27 campaign.
