The Ghana Kendo Federation on Saturday hosted the National Inter-Club Kendo KYU Championship at the DG Hathramani Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium, bringing together practitioners from as young as six years to adults in a display of discipline and skill that underscored the sport’s growing footprint in the country.
Organised to promote discipline, respect and skill development among practitioners, the championship was contested across six age categories, drawing clubs from across the country to compete under the traditional rules of Kendo, the Japanese martial art of swordsmanship.
Competition ran through the Female 6–10, Male 6–10, Male 11–13, Female 14–16, Male 17–20 and Male 21-and-above categories, with each division producing a top-four finish recognised by the federation.
Individual Honours
Adeti Christiana, who placed second in the Female 14–16 category, was named Best Female Athlete of the championship, while Christopher Botchway, winner of the Male 21-and-above division, was named Best Male Athlete. Both were presented with trophies in recognition of their performances on the day.
