Black Challenge eye global stage
Ghana’s Black Challenge enter the tournament following a strong run of success in African amputee football.
The team won the African Amputee Football Championship in Tanzania in 2021, defeating Liberia 3-2 in the final.
Ghana added another major title in 2023, winning gold at the inaugural African Para Games in Accra after a 2-1 victory over Morocco.
The Black Challenge later retained the African amputee football crown with another 2-1 victory over Morocco in Cairo, a result that secured Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 World Cup.
The achievements have established Ghana among the leading amputee football nations on the continent as the team prepares to compete on the global stage in Mexico.
The National Paralympic Committee has called on the public, corporate bodies and the wider sporting community to support the team as preparations continue for the World Cup.
The Black Challenge will be seeking to translate their continental success into a strong showing at the global tournament when the 24 participating nations converge on Mexico in November.
