The Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie, has reaffirmed her commitment to the growth and development of sports by hosting officers and athletes of the Ghana Prisons Armwrestling Team to a special luncheon in Accra.
The event brought together officers, referees, athletes, and officials of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation to celebrate the outstanding performance of the Prisons team at the recently concluded African Armwrestling Championship held in Accra. The gathering also served as a motivation for the athletes as they prepare for future competitions.

Addressing attendees at the event, Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie commended the athletes for their discipline, resilience, and dedication to excellence. She noted that the team’s achievements continue to elevate the image of the Ghana Prisons Service both locally and internationally.
She further described sports as a vital tool for promoting unity, teamwork, and mental strength within the security services, encouraging the athletes to remain focused and strive for even greater success in upcoming tournaments.

One of the highlights of the luncheon was a symbolic presentation of medals and honours won at various competitions to the Director-General by members of the team, in appreciation of her unwavering support and encouragement toward the development of armwrestling within the Service.
Athletes and officials who made the presentation included Prince Affum, Henry Otoo, Daniel Acquah, Mabel Yeboah, Rashida Abubakar, and referee Frema Abigail.

Also present at the event were President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, Charles Osei Asibey, popularly known as Barrister, Vice President Kofi Addo Agyekum, as well as other technical officials. They praised the Ghana Prisons Service for its increasing investment in the development and promotion of armwrestling.
The Federation’s leadership acknowledged the Ghana Prisons team as one of the strongest institutional forces in armwrestling, highlighting its importance contribution to the growth and popularity of the sport across the country.
The luncheon also created an avenue for interaction between management and athletes, with discussions focused on enhancing performance, nurturing emerging talent, and preparing the team for upcoming national and continental championships.

Over the years, the Ghana Prisons Service has produced some of Ghana’s finest sportsmen and women and continues to play a key role in the advancement of armwrestling in the country.
