Hearts of Oak appear set to finally land a player they have chased for well over a year, with Evans Osei Wusu poised to undergo a medical examination this week as a precursor to a formal move to the Phobians.
Negotiations between the club and the winger’s representatives are understood to have progressed significantly in recent days, bringing to a close a protracted pursuit that has stretched across two transfer windows.
The 25-year-old attacker, who plays predominantly on the left flank, first came to prominence at Tema Youth before completing a free transfer to FC Samartex in February 2023. It was at Samartex that Osei Wusu established himself as one of the Ghana Premier League’s most productive wide players, contributing 11 goals and 8 assists in 27 appearances during the 2023/24 campaign as the Sekondi-based side won their maiden league title.
He followed that with a further spell in the top flight before joining Karela United as a free agent in August 2025.
Hearts of Oak’s interest in the player is not a new development. The Phobians first registered concrete interest in mid-2025, at one stage locked in competition with Asante Kotoko for his signature, before Osei Wusu ultimately opted to join Karela United ahead of the 2025/26 season.
With his spell at Karela having now run its course, Hearts of Oak have renewed their approach, and the club’s long-standing admiration for the winger appears close to being rewarded.
Should the move be completed, Osei Wusu would add proven attacking output and top-flight experience to a Hearts of Oak side that has been chasing a return to sustained title contention.
His combination of pace, direct running and end product in the final third has made him a consistent performer in the Ghana Premier League since his breakout season at Samartex.
