The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has extended its official backing to Ampem Darkoa Ladies as they begin their campaign in the CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU Zone B Qualifiers, currently underway in Burkina Faso.

In a statement issued on Monday, 24th August 2026, the Honourable Minister and the Management of the Ministry sent their heartfelt encouragement to the club, describing the team as “formidable” as it prepares to compete on the regional stage.

Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ journey begins today with a crucial opening fixture against ASEC Mimosa of Côte d’Ivoire, before the team faces further tests against Edo Queens of Nigeria and AS Garde Nationale du Niger in the group phase.

The Ministry urged the players, affectionately addressed as “Nana Mma,” to draw on their dedication, passion and pursuit of excellence as their greatest assets heading into the qualifiers.

The statement called on the team to set aside apprehension and play with the confidence and composure of champions, backed by the trust the nation has placed in their preparation.

The Ministry further affirmed the support of the public for the club’s ambitions, expressing confidence in the team’s ability to make the country proud as it pursues a place in the next stage of the competition.
