Antoine Semenyo has etched his name into the history books, becoming the first Ghanaian footballer ever to be named in the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Premier League Team of the Year, capping off an exceptional 2025/26 campaign.
The Black Stars forward was one of four Manchester City players honoured in the prestigious XI, joining teammates Nico O’Reilly, Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland in the elite selection. All four players played pivotal roles in a season that saw the Club clinch both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup.
Notably, the PFA Team of the Year is determined by a vote among fellow professional footballers, making the honour a powerful testament to the respect Semenyo commands among his peers across the league.
Semenyo’s rise to prominence continued seamlessly following his January move to Manchester City from Bournemouth.
Having already shone during the first half of the season with the Cherries, Semenyo carried that momentum into his new surroundings at the Etihad Stadium, quickly cementing his place as a formidable attacking threat capable of thriving on either flank.
His influence was felt most profoundly on the biggest stages. He produced a moment of magic in the 2026 FA Cup final, where a stunning back-flick finish proved decisive in City’s 1-0 triumph over Chelsea, sealing the trophy for his side.
By season’s end, the 26-year-old had recorded an impressive tally of 21 goals and six assists across 48 appearances, a testament to the central role he played in City’s domestic cup success.
