Ghana’s boxing campaign at the ongoing IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships received a powerful boost as national representative Ebenezer Ankrah delivered a dominant performance, securing a decisive victory in the third round.

Competing in the 60kg Lightweight division, Ankrah, proudly representing the Black Panthers Boxing Gym in Accra, Knockout his opponent from Guinea-Bissau. The referee’s intervention in the third round confirmed Ankrah’s victory, handing Ghana its second consecutive victory at the IBA Championship

The win propels Ankrah into the Round of 16, moving him significantly closer to the medal rounds and keeping the nation’s championship hopes alive. His triumph follows another Ghanaian victory earlier in the competition, marking a strong collective start for the national contingent in Dubai.

The IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in Dubai has assembled the world’s finest amateur boxers, all vying for the coveted global title. Ankrah’s progression adds Ghana to the list of nations with strong representation in the championship knockout phase.

It’s been alleged that Ghana’s Black Bombers at the ongoing IBA Men’s championship in Dubai do not have a coach but 2024 SWAG Boxer of the Year, Amadu Mohammed won against his opponent from India in a thrilling 5-0 performance.
