The Chief Director of the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah, together with the Human Resource Manager, Mrs. Jennifer Buabeng, the Ministry’s Protocol Officer, Ms. Dinah Asamoah, and Personal Assistant to Hon. Kofi Adams, Mr. Wonder, held an engagement meeting with the Officials of the Ghana Cycling Federation at the Ministry’s conference room in Accra.
The meeting formed part of ongoing collaborations between the Ministry and the Federation to ensure successful organization of the 10th Edition of the Tour du Ghana, Ghana’s biggest national cycling competition scheduled for November 13th to 24th November 2025
In her opening remarks, Mrs. Asamoah commended the Ghana Cycling Federation for its consistency in promoting the sport and using it as a platform to showcase Ghana’s tourism potential. She reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to supporting all sporting disciplines, including cycling, to reach international standards.
Mr. Shaaban, in his speech, briefed the Ministry officials on the Federation’s level of preparedness and progress made in terms of logistics, sponsorship, and route mapping. He emphasized that the Tour du Ghana would feature routes across several regions, designed to highlight the country’s scenic beauty while promoting cycling as a national sport.
However, he raised concerns about a major challenge on the road stretch between Lekpe-Hohoe-Jasikai-Dambai road describing it as a critical route that requires urgent attention ahead of the event. The poor condition of that section, he noted, could pose safety risks for cyclists and logistics teams.
The Chief Director acknowledged the concern and assured the Federation of the Ministry’s readiness to engage the Ministry of Roads and Highways and relevant regional authorities to ensure the issue is addressed before the commencement of the event.
Both parties agreed to maintain close coordination in the weeks leading up to the 10th edition of the Tour du Ghana. The Ministry also encouraged the Federation to continue engaging the media and sponsors to give the event the visibility it deserves.
The multi-stage race will traverse the Greater Accra, Volta, and Oti Regions, highlighting key districts and communities including Ada, Aflao, Ho, Hohoe, Jasikan, Dambai, Ho, and Olebu in Ablekuma Accra.

Mr. Mohammed emphasized the event’s cultural integration, stating it will showcase Ghanaian heritage and promote the “Black Star Experience.”
“Sponsors such as DOT Ateliers, Stanbic Bank, MTN, Prudential Life Insurance, Twellium Verna water, Asa Plus Destination, Akwamu Kotoi state, THB, DHL Global Forwarding, and Ghana Olympic Committee have confirm strongly and are demonstrating great promise,” he added.
Plans are also underway for His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama to flag off the race in Accra.
The meeting ended with renewed optimism about the success of this year’s tour, with the Chief Director expressing confidence that the collaboration between the Ministry and the Federation would further elevate the image of Ghanaian cycling both locally and internationally.
