The LD Dodgers Baseball Club made history on Saturday, December 27, 2025, winning the first-ever Ghana National Baseball League title. They defeated their rivals, the Tema Tigers, by a score of 7–3 in a thrilling final at Koshien Baseball Field in Labone.
The game began as a tense battle between the pitchers. Both teams were held scoreless for the first two innings. LD Dodgers’ pitcher, Frank Opoku, and Tema Tigers’ pitcher, Henry Kotei Nikoi, kept the hitters in check with strong performances.

The Dodgers broke the game open in the bottom of the third inning. They took advantage of a fielding error and strung together several key hits to score five runs, taking a commanding 5–0 lead.
The Tigers fought back in the top of the fourth inning. They capitalized on walks and an error to score three runs, closing the gap to 5–3. However, pitcher Frank Opoku regained control to end the Tigers’ rally.

LD Dodgers answered immediately in their next turn at bat, adding two more runs to extend their lead to 7–3. From there, their defense and pitching held strong. The Tigers could not mount another comeback, and the Dodgers secured their historic victory.
This win confirms the LD Dodgers as the top team in the league. They finished the season in first place with 24 points, ahead of the second-place Tema Tigers, who had 21 points.
Third-Place Match
Earlier in the day,the Shai Osudoku Hawks claimed third place with a strong 13–3 win over the Tema Giant Hitters. The Hawks’ effective hitting and pitching ended the game early under the mercy rule.
Awards Ceremony
Following the final,the Ghana Baseball and Softball Federation held a closing ceremony. Individual awards were presented:
Most Valuable Player (MVP): Frank Opoku (LD Dodgers)
Best Coach: Daniel Obeng (LD Dodgers)
Most Disciplined Team: Tema Tigers
Cash prizes were awarded to all four teams: champions LD Dodgers, runners-up Tema Tigers, third-place Shai Osudoku Hawks, and the Tema Giant Hitters.
