Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has openly questioned whether he will remain in his role until the end of the season, following a difficult 2-1 loss to Sunderland in the premier league
After the match, Glasner expressed deep frustration with the club’s leadership, suggesting he and the team feel “abandoned” by decisions made above him.
“The worst thing is selling our captain one day before playing a Premier League game,” Glasner stated, referring to the recent departure of defender Marc Guéhi.
The manager revealed this is the second time this season a key player has been sold immediately before a match. Earlier in the campaign, playmaker Eberechi Eze was also transferred under similar circumstances.
“I have kept my mouth shut until now,” Glasner continued. “You get your heart torn out twice this season, both times one day before a game. It happened with Eze and now with Guéhi.”
Glasner explained he was only informed of the decision to sell Guéhi on the eve of a Premier League fixture, leaving the team to deal with the sudden disruption.
“I heard yesterday we were selling Marc and then we have to deal with it,” he said. “No team should do this.”
“We have 12, 13 players from the squad available and we feel no support. The worst thing is selling our captain one day before playing a Premier League game.
“I have always kept my mouth (shut), but I can’t because I have to defend these players, because it was the 35th game today.”
“Yes we get under pressure here and we are unlucky. But again, you can’t react, we can’t help them, it makes it really tough.”
When directly asked if he would see out the current season, the manager’s response was stark: “I don’t know.”
The comments point to a rift between the management and the club’s board regarding transfer policy and its timing.
