Caleb Yirenkyi’s Coventry City Fall To Arsenal on Premier League Opener
Arsenal began their Premier League title defence in impressive fashion, beating newly promoted Coventry City 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
The champions dominated from the opening stages, with Coventry struggling to match their intensity despite showing a willingness to attack rather than simply sit deep.
Arsenal took the lead after 15 minutes when a Milan van Ewijk clearance ricocheted off Christos Tzolis and fell to Riccardo Calafiori. The Italian picked out Kai Havertz, who fired a first-time finish past Carl Rushworth.
Bukayo Saka doubled the advantage eight minutes later. Tzolis’ low delivery was parried by Rushworth, leaving Saka with a simple finish into an empty net.
Coventry offered little threat thereafter and managed only one shot on target during the match. Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi also became the first player to receive a Premier League yellow card this season.

Ødegaard Seals Comfortable Victory
Arsenal continued where they left off after the interval and added a third goal just four minutes into the second half. Martin Ødegaard calmly converted Ben White’s cut-back to complete the scoring.
The result extended Arsenal’s dominance over Coventry, who have not beaten the Gunners since their 3-2 Premier League victory in December 1999.
For Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, the victory provides an ideal start to the club’s attempt to retain the Premier League crown after last season’s title success.
Arsenal will travel to Villa Park to face Unai Emery’s Aston Villa in their next league fixture, while Coventry will host fellow newcomers Hull City.
