Ghana Premier League: Asante Kotoko Stroll Past Basake Holy Stars
Asante Kotoko bounced back in style with a commanding 3-0 victory over Basake Holy Stars at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, ending their two-game winless and scoreless streak in the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupines, who had struggled in recent matches, displayed clinical finishing in a dominant performance that kept their title hopes alive.
Captain Samba Oneil led the charge, opening the scoring with a coolly taken penalty after Saaka Dauda was brought down in the box in the first half.
The second half saw Albert Amoah, who has returned to the club on loan, made an instant impact with a breathtaking overhead kick to double the lead.
With the game already in the bag, Kwame Opoku sealed the win late on, finishing with composure to make it 3-0 and cap a perfect day for the Porcupines.
This result ended Kotoko’s run of two games without a win and two matches without scoring, giving them much-needed momentum heading into their next fixtures.
Despite the win, Kotoko remain in third place, tied on 35 points with second-place Aduana FC and fourth-place Hearts of Oak.
They are now 8 points behind the league leaders, Medeama SC, who continue to sit atop the standings.
