Kotoko Head Coach Rallies Fans Ahead of Samartex Clash

Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prince Owusu, has called on the club’s supporters to turn up in large numbers for their Ghana Premier League fixture against FC Samartex 1996 on Monday.

The match is set to be played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Easter Monday, a public holiday the coach believes presents the perfect opportunity for fans to rally behind the team.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Owusu urged supporters to make the most of the holiday by coming to the stadium and backing the Porcupine Warriors.

“I am asking them (fans) to do us a favour by coming to the stadium to watch the game and complete their holidays with us at the stadium,” he said.

The Kotoko boss expressed confidence in his side’s ability to deliver, assuring fans that a victory would serve as the perfect Easter gift. When asked directly if his team would secure the win, Owusu responded: “We have to.”

Kotoko head into the clash with a strong home record against Samartex. Since the Timber Giants gained promotion to the top flight in 2022, the Porcupines have won all three league meetings played at home.

Monday’s fixture is expected to be a crucial test for both sides as the Ghana Premier League season enters its final stretch and Asante Kotoko aiming to cover up ground in the title race.
