Man City tighten grip on Arsenal in title race
Manchester City boosted their Premier League title ambitions with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium, cutting the gap at the top to just three points.
City struck first through Ryan Cherki, who weaved past defenders before finishing neatly past David Raya in the 16th minute.
The lead, however, lasted only moments as Arsenal hit back almost instantly. Kai Havertz capitalised on a mistake from Gianluigi Donnarumma, with the ball ricocheting off him for a quick equaliser.
The contest remained finely balanced until the second half when Erling Braut Haaland stepped up once again, netting his 23rd league goal of the season to seal the win for Pep Guardiola’s side.
Pressure mounts at the top

The result leaves City within touching distance of Arsenal, with a game in hand that could prove decisive. Victory against Burnley in their outstanding fixture would see them draw level on points and potentially move ahead on goal difference.
Haaland expressed his optimism after the win, saying, “Woah… sometimes, I get a good feeling.” He quickly tempered expectations, adding, “We need to stay humble. Don’t think too much. Burnley next.”
Despite the setback, Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard remained defiant, insisting that “the title hasn’t been decided yet.”
With only a handful of matches left, both sides face a tense run-in. City are chasing a seventh league title under Pep Guardiola, while Arsenal continue their pursuit of a first crown since the 2003/04 season, setting up a dramatic finish to the campaign.
