The Fédération Malienne de Football (FEMAFOOT) has officially expressed its deepest gratitude to Coach Tom Saintfiet, whose tenure as Head Coach of the Mali team has now come to a close.
In a formal letter addressed to the Belgian tactician, FEMAFOOT President Mahazou dit Baba CISSET saluted Saintfiet’s unwavering commitment, exemplary professionalism, and remarkable determination in steering the Eagles of Mali through a demanding and highly competitive football environment.
During his time at the helm, Coach Saintfiet successfully maintained group cohesion, structured the team’s technical approach, and carried the colours of Mali with dignity. His contribution has helped consolidate the sporting foundations of the national selection, leaving the team on a positive trajectory for the future of Malian football.
The President particularly praised Saintfiet’s sense of responsibility, spirit of collaboration with all football institutions, and the quality of his human relationships with players, staff, and stakeholders.
According to the Federation, beyond match outcomes and statistics, it was the coach’s attachment to the core values of sport, integrity, respect, and dedication as well as his genuine respect for Mali that earned him widespread appreciation.
As Saintfiet now turns to new challenges in his career, President CISSET extended his warmest wishes for success, adding:
Know that Mali will remain forever grateful to you, and that you will always be welcome here.
The letter, issued from FEMAFOOT’s headquarters on Avenue du Mali in Hamdallaye ACI 2000, marks the end of a chapter but also the beginning of a lasting bond between the coach and the country he served with honour.
