Hearts Slip Out of Title Race as Kotoko End Winless Run

Hearts of Oak have officially fallen out of the Ghana Premier League title race after being held to a goalless draw by Aduana FC at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The stalemate was Hearts’ 15th draw of the season and their 13th match ending goalless. Also, the he Phobians have now played out 10 home draws this campaign, eight of them ending 0-0.

Despite owning the league’s best defensive record with just 12 goals conceded and 24 clean sheets, Hearts’ struggles in attack have continued to hurt their season. They have scored only 21 goals in 32 matches.

Results elsewhere confirmed their exit from the title race after Medeama SC secured a 1-0 away win against Basake Holy Stars. The title battle is now between Medeama and Bibiani GoldStars who are separated by just two points.

Asante Kotoko Beat Wonders

Asante Kotoko bounced back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Youngsters Lawson Kyei and Anthony Duah scored in either half to hand Kotoko their first win in five matches and end a three-game losing run.

The result also gave interim coach Hamza Obeng his first victory since taking charge of the Porcupine Warriors.

Elsewhere, Heart of Lions defeated FC Samartex 3-0, while Vision FC also beat Karela United 3-0.
