Sprint sensation Abdul-Rasheed Saminu delivered yet another outstanding performance on the international stage, securing a third-place finish in the men’s 100 metres at the prestigious LA Grand Prix on Sunday night.
Saminu clocked an impressive 9.88 seconds to finish among an elite field that featured some of the world’s fastest sprinters. The Ghanaian star crossed the line behind American duo Kenneth Bednarek and Christian Coleman, who finished first and second respectively.
According to the official results, Bednarek won the race in a remarkable 9.72 seconds, while Coleman followed with 9.84 seconds. Saminu’s time of 9.88 seconds was enough to earn him a place on the podium ahead of several notable competitors, including reigning world 200m champion Letsile Tebogo of Botswana, who finished fifth in 9.95 seconds.

The race was run with a wind reading of +2.4 m/s, slightly above the allowable limit for record purposes, but the performance nevertheless highlighted Saminu’s growing reputation as one of the fastest men in world athletics.
Competing from lane one, the Ghanaian showed determination and composure against a world-class lineup, maintaining his excellent form throughout the 2025 season. His podium finish at the LA Grand Prix further affirms his emergence as a major force in global sprinting and strengthens Ghana’s presence on the international athletics circuit.
With another sub-10-second performance against top-tier opposition, the sprint star has once again demonstrated that he belongs among the world’s best in the men’s 100 metres.
