The Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) on Friday inaugurated a Vetting and Election Committee to oversee its upcoming Elective Congress, scheduled for July 18, in a ceremony held at the offices of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC).
The President of the GOC, Mr Richard Akpokavie, who chaired proceedings, used the occasion to address broader concerns about governance across Ghana’s sports federations. He observed that the management of electoral processes within national federations has, in several instances, been undermined by recurring institutional shortcomings, and noted that hosting the inauguration at the GOC’s offices formed part of the Committee’s wider effort to professionalise and standardise electoral conduct among its member federations.

Part of GOC’s efforts to streamline sports in Ghana, promoting good electoral process and endorsing a clear standard across member federations.”

The three-member Committee is chaired by Mr Lawrence Osei-Boateng Esq., a legal practitioner with the Ghana Free Zones Authority. He is joined by the GOC Secretary-General, Mr Mohammed Muniru Kassim Esq., with a third member, a staff representative from the National Sports Authority, Ghana, yet to be confirmed.
