Black Princesses Return Home After World Cup Qualification
Ghana’s U-20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, touched down in Accra on Monday to a warm and celebratory reception after booking their place at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The team arrived at the Accra International Airport in the early hours of Monday following a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Uganda in Kampala in Saturday, a result that secured eighth consecutive qualification on a 3-2 aggregate scoreline.
Having won the first leg 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium, the Princesses travelled to Uganda needing only to avoid defeat and successfully got the job done despite a difficult encounter away from home.
Players and officials were welcomed by a delegation from the Ghana Football Association led by Vice President Mark Addo.
Also present at the airport were General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo Esq., Executive Council member Samuel Aboabire, Business Development Manager Janice Odonkor, and Human Resource Manager Keziah Agyekumwaa Afosa.
The arrival scene was filled with excitement as supporters and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the team’s latest achievement, which sees Ghana qualify once again for the global tournament.
The Black Princesses have now extended Ghana’s strong presence in women’s youth football and will turn their attention to preparations for the tournament scheduled to take place in Poland in September this year.
