The renowned Wisdom Boxing Gym in Accra is undergoing a major phase of refurbishment and development with support from United Kingdom-based non-governmental organisation, Boxing Is Love.

The initiative forms part of efforts to modernise the famous boxing gym located at Ardebenkpo in Jamestown and create a better environment for nurturing future boxing champions.
Chief Executive Officer of Boxing Is Love, Mr. Spencer Lee Boya, together with members of his team, visited the gym to supervise renovation works being carried out by the boxers and assistant coaches.

Mr. Boya expressed his excitement about contributing to the development of young talents through boxing.

We are passionate about supporting less privileged young people with the potential to become superstars. Through our partnership with Boxraw, we hope to provide equipment, nutrition, academic support and wellness programmes for the gym,” he said.

He praised Wisdom Boxing Gym for its long-standing contribution to Ghana boxing, noting that the club has produced several Olympic, Commonwealth and professional boxers, including Tony Danso, Samuel Takyi, Theophilus Allotey, Patrick Allotey, Wahid Omar, Haruna Mohammed, Emmanuel Quaye and the Samir brothers.

Administrator of the gym, Miss Sarah Lotus Asare, expressed gratitude for the support and assured that the equipment and facilities would be properly maintained.
She also disclosed that other boxing clubs within the Greater Accra Region, including Attoh Quarshie, Akotoku Academy, Black Panthers and Charles Quartey Boxing Club, are expected to benefit from the support initiative.

According to an Executive Board Member of the Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF), boxing remains a powerful tool capable of transforming lives and creating positive change in society.
Founder and Head Trainer of Wisdom Boxing Gym, Dr. Ofori Asare, welcomed the gesture from Boxing Is Love and encouraged other gyms and coaches to remain committed to hard work and athlete development.
Dr. Asare also revealed that the gym has established a Wall of Fame to celebrate the achievements and history of the club.

The Wall of Fame is to let Ghanaians and visitors appreciate how far we have come and what we have achieved over the years,” he explained.
