Chelsea Capture England Midfielder Morgan Rogers From Aston Villa
Chelsea have completed the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa, with the forward agreeing a long-term contract that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
The 23-year-old joins the Club World champions ahead of the 2026/27 season after the two clubs reached an agreement for his transfer on Saturday. Rogers subsequently completed his medical examinations on Monday following his return from the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
Chelsea moved quickly to secure the services of one of the Premier League’s most highly rated young attackers, beating competition from several top clubs who had identified the England star as a major target.
Rogers excited by Chelsea move and Alonso project
Rogers expressed his excitement after completing his move to west London, describing Chelsea as a club he has admired since childhood and highlighting his ambition to be part of the team’s future under head coach Xabi Alonso.
“I’m so excited. For me, Chelsea are the biggest club in London and a club I’ve always admired since I was a kid,” Rogers said.
The forward added that the opportunity to work with Alonso and join Chelsea’s ambitious project played a major role in his decision to move to Stamford Bridge.
“I’m really excited about the project with the new manager, the players we’ve got and where the club is heading. That’s why I’m here and I can’t wait to get started,” he added.
Chelsea also confirmed their delight at securing the signing of the versatile attacker, praising Rogers’ development and his impact at Aston Villa.
“Chelsea is delighted to announce the signing of England international Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa,” the club said in an official statement.
The Blues described Rogers as a player who has established himself among the Premier League’s leading young attacking talents after impressive performances for Villa.
Impressive Villa spell earns England recognition
Rogers arrives at Chelsea after a standout period at Aston Villa, where he developed into one of the division’s most influential young forwards.

Since joining Villa from Middlesbrough in February 2024, Rogers has played a key role in the club’s recent success, contributing goals and assists that helped the Midlands side secure a top-four finish and qualify for Europe’s elite competitions.
The forward’s performances were instrumental in Villa’s UEFA Europa League triumph last season, further enhancing his reputation as a player capable of performing at the highest level.
Overall, Rogers contributed to 40 goals in 85 Premier League appearances during his time at Villa, underlining his ability to create and finish chances from attacking positions.
Known for his physical strength, direct running, creativity and ability to operate across multiple attacking roles, Rogers has become regarded as one of England’s brightest emerging talents.
His form at club level also earned him international recognition. Rogers made his senior England debut in November 2024 and has since become a regular member of the Three Lions squad, earning 22 caps and featuring at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Chelsea continue ambitious squad rebuild
Rogers’ arrival represents another major addition to a Chelsea squad that continues to be shaped around young, high-potential players.
The Blues have invested heavily in recruiting emerging stars as part of a long-term strategy designed to maintain competitiveness domestically and in European football. The signing also strengthens Alonso’s attacking options as Chelsea prepare to defend their status as Club World champions and compete across multiple competitions in the 2026/27 campaign.
Rogers’ contract length reflects Chelsea’s belief in his long-term potential, with the club securing his services for seven years.
Having already proven himself in the Premier League and on the international stage, Rogers now faces the challenge of establishing himself at one of England’s biggest clubs.
