Abdul Fatawu Issahaku celebrate after scoring for Leicester City in the Championship

Fatawu Issahaku Delighted to End Season Injury-Free

Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has expressed relief after completing the season without injury setbacks, following a difficult 2024/25 campaign that saw him sidelined for months.

The Leicester City winger endured a long spell out with a knee injury last season, missing nearly seven months of action before making his return at the start of the just ended Championship season. His recovery marked a turning point, as he went on to play a significant role throughout the season.

Fatawu featured prominently in the Championship, registering an impressive 16 goal contributions, scoring nine times and providing seven assists in a strong individual showing.

However, his personal success contrasted sharply with the club’s struggles, as Leicester City suffered a second consecutive relegation, this time dropping into England’s third tier, League One.

Speaking exclusively to the BAC Sports, the forward admitted mixed emotions over the campaign. While disappointed with the team’s outcome, he remained grateful for his fitness and consistency.

I returned from injury at the start of the season and I played a lot of games and feel good, so I’m happy.”

Fatawu also acknowledged that individual performances mean little in the face of collective failure, emphasizing the shared responsibility within the squad.

It was a good season for me personally, but with the situation, it affects me as well.

With his fitness intact and confidence rebuilt, the young winger now turns his attention to international duty, where he is expected to play a key role for Ghana in the upcoming World Cup campaign.
