Ghana international Felix Afena-Gyan has capped a fruitful season in Turkish football after his club Amedspor secured promotion to the Süper Lig on the final day of the 2025/26 Turkish 1. Lig campaign.
The 23-year-old forward, who joined Amedspor on loan from Italian Serie B side Cremonese, played a central role in in Amedspor qualification

Afena-Gyan played a crucial role as Amedspor played out a thrilling 3–3 away draw with Iğdır FK on Matchday 38. The result, combined with a favourable outcome elsewhere, confirmed Amedspor’s place among the top two in the final standings and their return to Turkey’s top flight.
Across 35 appearances in the league, the former AS Roma striker contributed five goals and six assists out of 1,317 minutes played, a combined output of eleven direct goal involvements that affirms his value to Amedspor’s attacking play throughout the campaign.

Amedspor concluded the season behind Erzurumspor who emerged as champions amassing 74 points, 7 points ahead of Amedspor. They ended level on points with third-placed Erokspor, but better match up results were enough to separate the two clubs and confirm Amedspor’s second-place finish and with it, secured promotion to the Süper Lig.

The Ghanaian forward is currently at Amedspor on a loan from Cremonese, but his contributions over the course of the season are expected to prompt discussions regarding a permanent transfer.

Amedspor hold a purchase option in the loan agreement, and with the club now set to compete in the Süper Lig, there is every incentive to exercise it ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
For Afena-Gyan personally, the season marks an important moment in his career that has taken him from Roma in Serie A where he announced himself to European football through Cremonese and now to the Turkish top-flight football. At just 23 years of age, the Ghanaian forward appears to be building the platform from which his best years may yet come.

Felix Afena-Gyan played on loan for Juventus Next Gen, which competes in Italy’s third-tier Serie C.
After joining Cremonese on a permanent deal from AS Roma in 2022, his career hit a rough patch. He started just 8 of his 23 Serie A appearances in his first season, and a fracture kept him out for most of the following Serie B campaign.
In August 2024, he moved to Juventus Next Gen and regained some of his best form, netting 10 goals in 30 Serie C matches before his summer transfer to Amedspor.
