Pérez Secures New Real Madrid Term as Mourinho Makes Stunning Return
Florentino Pérez will remain president of Real Madrid until 2030 after being re-elected to lead the Spanish giants for another four years.
The long-serving club chief, who returned to the presidency in 2009, celebrated his victory by thanking supporters and reaffirming his commitment to the club’s future success.
It’s a beautiful day for me and for all Madridistas,” Pérez said. “We won. I’m here to defend Real Madrid. We are a family. We will keep winning titles together.”
During his current spell in charge, Pérez has overseen one of the most successful periods in the club’s history. Real Madrid have won six UEFA Champions League titles, including the long-awaited La Décima in 2014, alongside several domestic trophies and the redevelopment of the Santiago Bernabéu.
Looking ahead, the 79-year-old made it clear that the club’s ambitions remain as high as ever. “The fight for the 16th Champions League starts today,” he declared.
Pérez also used the occasion to confirm the return of José Mourinho as Real Madrid manager.
We are proud to welcome back one of the best coaches in the world, a proper Madridista, José Mourinho,” Pérez said.
The Portuguese coach arrives for a second stint at the Bernabéu after leaving Benfica, where he recently completed an unbeaten league campaign.
Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning a La Liga title and helping restore the club’s competitiveness during a dominant Barcelona era.

Meanwhile, presidential challenger Enrique Riquelme congratulated Pérez on his victory but insisted his campaign would continue. “Congrats to Florentino Pérez. However, this is not the end,” Riquelme stated.
With Pérez retaining control and Mourinho returning to the dugout, Real Madrid now turn their attention to the next chapter in their pursuit of domestic and European glory.
