The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) has named a new-look Black Bombers squad to begin preparations under a freshly appointed technical team, with camping activities commencing on Monday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The non-residential camp marks the start of preparations for a friendly fight tournament against a United States select side, scheduled to take place in Accra in October. The federation has also earmarked the assembled group for further international assignments, including qualifying competitions for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games next year.
The squad draws boxers from clubs across the country, including Black Panthers Boxing Club, Wisdom Boxing Club, SeaView Boxing Club, James Town Boxing Club, FitSquare Boxing Gym, Charles Quarteyn Boxing Foundation, Will Power Boxing Gym, Seconds Out Boxing Gym, Akotoku Academy, Attoh Quarshie Boxing Gym, and Square View Boxing Gym, reflecting a broad selection process aimed at assembling the strongest available national pool.
Overseeing preparations is a newly constituted technical team led by Vincent Akai Nettey and Charles Quartey as lead coaches, supported by an assistant coaching staff comprising Elvis Robertson, Ben Tetteh, Ebenezer Ofoli Quaye, and Sulleyman Martey Korley.
The camp is expected to serve as the foundation for the team’s build-up towards the October friendly series, with the technical team using the non-residential sessions in Accra to assess form, fitness, and combinations ahead of the international assignments to follow.
