Ghana will be represented by two female judokas at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, following a formal decision by the Ghana Judo Association.
Mr. Kenneth Arthur, President of the Association, announced that Frema Agyri and Elizabeth Serwaa Oduro have been selected to bear the country’s flag in the judo competition. Notably, Elizabeth Serwaa Oduro is a beneficiary of the Olympic Solidarity Scholarship, an endorsement of her potential on the international stage.
In a related remark, Mr. Akpokavie urged the media to exercise due diligence in verifying news stories before publication, adding that the doors of the GOC remain open for clarifications. He also issued a call to corporate organisations and sports philanthropists, reaffirming that Team Ghana continues to welcome support as preparations intensify.
Echoing similar sentiments, CDM Mr. Ernest Danso advised all national sports federations to foster unity and collaboration in presenting their best athletes for international competitions.
Ghana will be seeking to improve upon its medal tally at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with high hopes pinned on the two judokas to make the country proud on the podium.
