GPL Preview: Kotoko seek first win against Nations FC

Asante Kotoko will be eager to finally break their winless streak against Nations FC when they host them at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors have struggled in this fixture since Nations FC’s promotion to the top flight three years ago, failing to record a single victory. Nations FC have had the upper hand, winning three of their last five meetings, with the other two ending in draws.

Notably, two of those victories have come on the road, where they have also managed to keep clean sheets, making trips to face Kotoko one of their most successful outings.

Kotoko head into this clash under pressure, with their recent form offering little encouragement. They have managed just one win, one draw, and three defeats in their last five matches, a run that has raised concerns among their supporters.

Their struggles have also been evident at home, where they are winless in their last two games, suffering defeat to Hearts of Oak before playing out a goalless draw with Vision FC. Overall, they have recorded two wins, two draws, and one loss in their last five matches at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Nations FC, on the other hand, have enjoyed a more positive run in recent weeks, picking up three wins, one draw, and just one defeat in their last five games.

However, their away form remains a major concern. They have secured only one win on the road this season, alongside two draws and nine defeats, a record that could hand Kotoko a psychological edge despite their struggles.

With history against them but home advantage in their favour, Kotoko will see this as the perfect opportunity to rewrite the narrative against Nations FC.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be confident of maintaining their dominance in this fixture, setting up what promises to be a compelling encounter in Kumasi.
