The Board and Management of Asante Kotoko SC have issued a formal statement acknowledging the club’s deeply disappointing performance in the 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season, in which the Porcupine Warriors finished the campaign in eighth position, a season that represents one of the club’s most underwhelming league outcomes in recent memory.
In a statement released on Monday, 25th May 2026, the club’s leadership left no room for ambiguity, conceding that the outcome falls far below the standards, expectations, and ambitions that have historically defined Asante Kotoko as the most decorated club in Ghana football.

Acknowledgement of Failure
While stopping short of detailing specific structural or personnel changes, the Board was unusually candid in characterising the 2025/26 campaign as one to forget. The statement confirmed that decisive measures would be taken to arrest the club’s decline and restore Kotoko to the level befitting their rich histor.
While football always offers another opportunity to rise again, we acknowledge that this season’s performance is one to forget,” the statement read. “As a result, decisive measures will be taken to ensure the club returns to the level befitting its rich history and stature.”
Portion of the statement was directed at the club’s vast and passionate supporter base, who continued to follow the team across the country despite the turbulent season. Expressing heartfelt gratitude, the Board described the loyalty of Kotoko fans as the backbone of the club.
We would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to our loyal supporters who travelled across the country and stood firmly behind the team throughout the campaign,” the statement noted. “Your unwavering commitment and passion remain the backbone of this club. We sincerely apologise for the disappointment and frustration caused by our performance this season.”
The statement continued with a firm pledge to rebuild, Emphasising their intent to restore Asante Kotoko to the summit of both Ghana and African football, management committed to constructing a stronger, more competitive squad capable of delivering the silverware their supporters demand and deserve.
