The rematch between popular Ghanaian boxers Seth Gyimah, known professionally as Freezy Macbones, and Jonathan Tetteh, aka Worldwide, is scheduled to take place in August at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

This announcement was made by Mr. Alex Ntiamoah Boakye, Chief Executive Officer of Box Office Promotions, during the press launch of The Resurrection Fight Night.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Boakye outlined the strategic vision behind hosting the bout in the Ashanti Regional capital, often referred to as the Garden City. He noted that the decision aligns with the principle of balance, following Tetteh’s previous appearance before his home crowd in Accra.

“A new chapter has been opened in Ghana Boxing to make it more lucrative, attractive, and create opportunities for everyone involved,” Mr. Boakye stated. He urged both boxers to secure victories in their upcoming respective bouts to earn their places in the much-anticipated Oseikrom Showdown.

The Resurrection Fight Night, scheduled for April 5 at the Laboma Beach Resort, will serve as a qualifier for the August rematch. On that bill, Freezy Macbones is slated to face Jamil Animashaun, while Worldwide will take on the experienced Abdul Aziz Quartey. The winners of these two contests will progress to face each other in Kumasi.

In a related development, Nii Martey Dzata Obrempong I, Teshie Atofotse, has pledged his support for the development of Ghanaian boxing. Speaking at the same press launch, where he lent his backing to Dr. Albert Tetteh Botchway’s RBS Promotions and Box Office Promotions, he called for sustained efforts to help the country’s finest boxers compete for world titles.

The April 5 event features a strong undercard. Alfred “Show Time” Lamptey is scheduled to battle Maxwell Awuku, while Joseph Commey, known as Jaguar, will face Bright Ayala. Additionally, Michael Abban, popularly called Black Spider and the current Commonwealth titleholder, will appear on the bill alongside Abigail Quartey, Ghana’s only female world boxing champion.
