The Commonwealth Games Association of Ghana (CGA) has officially announced Team Ghana’s High-Performance Squad for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s preparations for the prestigious multi-sport event.

According to the CGA, the selected athletes earned their places through a selection process based on outstanding performances, dedication, and commitment across their respective disciplines.

The athletes will now enter the final phase of preparation, which will include intensified training, sports science support, and high-performance programmes aimed at ensuring Ghana remains competitive on the Commonwealth stage.

The announced squad features athletes from athletics, para athletics, boxing, cycling, judo, para powerlifting, para swimming, swimming, and weightlifting. Notable names in athletics include Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Rose Yeboah, Deborah Acheampong, and Anita Afrifa.

The boxing team will be led by athletes such as Daniel Plange, Desmond Pappoe, Nancy Bamfo, and Ramatu Quaye, while cyclists Erica Sedzro and Emmanuel Sackey will represent Ghana in track cycling.

The CGA reaffirmed its commitment to providing the necessary technical and logistical support to enable every athlete to perform at their highest level during the Games. The association also called on Ghanaians both at home and abroad to rally behind Team Ghana as the athletes embark on their journey to Glasgow with determination, unity, and the ambition of winning medals for the country.

The Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games will present another opportunity for Ghana’s finest athletes to showcase their talent on the international stage while striving to enhance the country’s proud sporting legacy.
